Booming North Lakes continues to expand

There’s no end in sight to the growth and expansion of infrastructure and facilities in the Moreton Bay region, with another major development just announced.

Laguna North Lakes has received the green light from the Moreton Bay Regional Council. The new mixed-use development located within the North Lakes town centre has received formal approval to proceed with the 1.7 hectare, $250 million precinct.

The plans include around 5000 sqm of food, fashion and beverage retail outlets, commercial office space and a 138-room hotel. A resort style restaurant and bar is also planned, along with a public aquatic centre.

The development is also set to open one of the largest purpose-built convention and events centre in the region, with facilities for around 1600 people.

The development will get underway later this year and is set to open in 2020.

According to George Group developer, the idea is to complement the rapid residential and commercial growth of the region with community facilities and enhanced retail options.

Director Patrick George said on announcing the approval, “We are striving to create a central village heart for the whole North Lakes community to shop, dine, relax and unwind in, but also provide a level of amenity the area needs.”

The announcement comes after the region welcomed IKEA North Lakes and an expansion to Westfield North Lakes in 2017.

The highly anticipated IKEA North Lakes has been up and running for a year now as well as the $170 million expansion to Westfield North Lakes.

The new 17,000sqm retail mall and adjoining 29,000sqm IKEA superstore has delivered more than 900 new jobs for the region in one of Australia’s fastest growing urban areas.

This region really is experiencing unprecedented growth which looks set to continue with this latest major development ready to take shape. There’s never been a better time to invest in this region, and its little wonder savvy property investors are all over this one.

There is no doubt investing in this location is a sound decision – with so much growth and infrastructure to offer…and only 10 mins from Massland’s Bestow development.
